Wunne mat der Wooltz: a new sustainable and inclusive district taking shape in Wiltz

On Tuesday, 22 April 2025, the Fonds du Logement celebrated a key milestone in the development of the “Wunne mat der Wooltz” project: the completion of the structural works of the Q2-Geetz site. This symbolic moment marks a significant step towards realising an innovative and inclusive new district in the heart of Wiltz.

A project in the heart of the city

Located in the immediate vicinity of the “Public” district and its school campus, the “Geetz” district is part of an integrated urban vision. It will ultimately offer a variety of housing types, from apartments to single-family homes. A centralised car and bicycle parking facility, as well as a waste collection station, will complete the infrastructure to meet the daily needs of future residents.

A sustainable and community-oriented vision of housing

“Wunne mat der Wooltz” goes beyond simply building housing: it is a lifestyle concept designed for current and future generations. The project is based on the principles of the circular economy and promotes a shared and supportive approach to living. Urban planning and architecture are designed to minimise environmental impact, encourage social diversity and foster interaction among residents.

Soft mobility and energy neutrality

The district will also focus on soft mobility, with facilities encouraging walking, cycling and public transport. The aim is to create a calm environment where private cars take a back seat. Energy neutrality is another key pillar of the project, with high-performing buildings and sustainable energy systems.

A new dynamic for Wiltz

With a total of 1,085 housing units planned, “Wunne mat der Wooltz” will actively contribute to meeting the demand for affordable housing in the north of the country. The first units are scheduled for delivery in 2026. This new district will enrich Wiltz’s residential offer while introducing an innovative, social and environmental dynamic on both local and national levels.
