Buildings of the future…
What if true innovation were invisible?

The buildings of the future will not be defined solely by smarter technologies or ever more demanding certifications. The real transformation is often less visible: it lies in how projects are conceived, structured, and supported from their very first stages.
As Elise Rein, Team Manager Advanced Engineering, points out: ‘It is the questions asked at the very start of the project that determine its long-term relevance.’
Thinking about the project differently, from phase 0
Local anchoring, mobilising local resources, opportunities for reuse: these choices directly influence feasibility, timelines, and the carbon footprint. In an uncertain context, the territory becomes a strategic lever for resilience. Phase 0 is decisive: it is at this stage that performance objectives, major technical trade-offs, and the overall strategy are defined, making it possible to align ambitions, budget, and schedule before the project becomes set. Finally, designing a building no longer simply means delivering it. Integrating the operational phase from the design stage—performance monitoring, user feedback, adaptability—turns the building into an evolving system, capable of improving over time.
