New Merbag Automotive Hub in Pontpierre
First Groundbreaking!
On 19 May, a major milestone was reached with the groundbreaking ceremony for the future Merbag automotive hub in Pontpierre. This large scale project will sustainably strengthen the group’s presence in Luxembourg.

The new strategic site, scheduled to become operational by 2029, will bring together all of Merbag’s internal services in Luxembourg, as well as activities related to the sales and after‑sales service of passenger cars. Designed to deliver a high‑level customer experience, the project will notably include:
- a spacious showroom and exhibition gallery,
- areas dedicated to used vehicles, with capacity for nearly 200 cars,
- an administrative area,
- a workshop of more than 4,000 m², incorporating 70 workstations.

The project also stands out for its strong environmental ambition. Sustainable development is at the heart of the design, with the integration of photovoltaic panels, geothermal energy, heat‑recovery systems, and rainwater management. Green roofs and façades, combined with renaturation areas, will contribute to better integration of the site into its natural surroundings.
With a built‑up area of approximately 37,000 m² (including a 200‑space car park), the project is set on a site of more than 80,000 m², which also includes forested areas.
Sweco is delighted to be involved in this project alongside Jonas Architectes and Schroeder & Associés, contributing to the realization of this future automotive hub that combines performance, innovation, and sustainability.
