Giewerei: first groundbreaking!
Wunne mat der Wooltz district in Wiltz

On Friday 6 March, the Housing Fund (Fonds du Logement) officially broke ground for the construction of eight residential complexes in the “Giewerei” district, at the heart of the Wunne mat der Wooltz project in Wiltz.
A project in support of affordable housing
In total, 155 accessible and diverse homes will be created:
- 87 homes for affordable rent.
- 68 homes for affordable purchase.
- 17 homes specially adapted for people with reduced mobility.
Designed with a sustainable and circular approach, the “Wunne mat der Wooltz” district will ultimately offer much more than housing: shops, services and shared living spaces will complement this environment, designed to foster community living.
A project looking towards the future
Sustainability lies at the heart of the approach:
- Use of responsible materials, such as wood on the façades.
- Structures designed to be scalable and adaptable over time.
- Exposed building systems that make maintenance and repair easier.
Common and technical areas (cellars, bicycle rooms, laundries) are integrated in a functional way, while some homes benefit from private entrances with a garden, strengthening the connection between the home and outdoor space.
