A day in the life…

Introducing our professions to the younger generation
On Wednesday, 22 January, Lycée Michel Rodange in Luxembourg City hosted the 3rd edition of the event “A Day as an Architect and Consulting Engineer”, organised by the Ordre des Architectes et des Ingénieurs-Conseils (OAI). The aim of this event is to introduce students in 10th, 11th and 12th grade to the professions of architecture and engineering in a fun, interactive and educational way.
An immersion into the world of construction professions
For an entire day, students were immersed in the daily lives of architects and consulting engineers. Through thematic workshops, they experienced the concrete realities of the construction sector while discovering the many facets of these technical and creative professions.
Scientific experiments to better understand buildings
Participants explored a series of physical and chemical experiments applied to building engineering. Topics included:
acoustics in built spaces,
thermal radiation and its effects,
indoor air quality,
natural and artificial lighting,
and many other key areas for building comfort and performance.
These hands-on experiments gave students a better understanding of the environmental, technical and human challenges that drive professionals in this sector.
Experts sharing their passion
The workshops were led by Elise Rein, Team Manager Advanced Engineering at Betic, part of Sweco, and Mike Dusseldorf, Administrator at Goblet Lavandier. With their dedication, teaching skills and passion, the two speakers were able to capture the attention of the students and share their enthusiasm for engineering professions.
Inspiring the builders of tomorrow
This event was a true success in raising awareness and inspiring young minds. It allowed students to envision a tangible professional future and perhaps discover a calling. Because to build the sustainable cities of tomorrow, it is essential to spark young people’s interest today in technical and innovative professions.
