This new residential building in Bonnevoie offers an opportunity for the innovative concept of cohousing to take root in Luxembourg. The three-storey building contains one apartment per floor, with the ground floor dedicated to a welcoming, multifunctional communal space. For the well-being of residents, special emphasis has been placed on the use of healthy and sustainable materials. All construction elements can be dismantled, reused, or recycled. The underground levels and load-bearing structure are built in concrete\/steel, while the envelope features timber frame construction.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n \t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n

A sustainable building with LENOZ certification<\/h2>\n

The roof is equipped with solar and photovoltaic panels, supported by an ice-storage boiler. The building is LENOZ-certified, with an energy consumption of 11 kWh\/(m\u00b2a). Rainwater from the roof is collected and reused for toilet flushing. A recycling room is located on the ground floor to make waste sorting easier.<\/p>\n

Soft mobility and shared transport solutions<\/h2>\n

In keeping with its environmental goals, the project promotes low-emission modes of transport. Outdoor parking spaces are deliberately limited, but a shared bicycle station is available for all residents. An open terrace is planned at ground level, creating space for shared meals, evening events, or other gatherings while maintaining links with the surrounding neighbourhood. A tree with a public bench will be integrated into this terrace.<\/p>\n

Accessibility and comfort for all generations<\/h2>\n

The building is designed without thresholds to ensure full accessibility in case of reduced mobility. Combined with the option to install a lift, it can be adapted to residents\u2019 needs throughout their lives.
Living spaces are oriented according to the sun\u2019s path: day areas such as the kitchen, living room, and dining room face west-southwest, while night areas are oriented to the east\/northeast. All electrical networks are shielded to protect occupants from electromagnetic waves.<\/p>\n

Shared spaces and community services<\/h2>\n

To encourage families to pool and share certain services, a flexible, modular multifunctional space has been created on the ground floor. Equipped with movable partitions, it can be used as a temporary workspace (art studio, rehearsal space, self-employed professional office), a residents\u2019 meeting room, a children\u2019s playroom, or a party hall.
To reduce environmental impact and optimise space, three shared-use areas are provided: a basement workshop with shared tools, a communal laundry with a single washing machine on the ground floor, and a single garden shed with tools for maintaining the shared garden and vegetable patch.<\/p>\n

A shared and eco-responsible garden<\/h2>\n

The garden and vegetable plot are accessible to all residents and maintained collectively using eco-friendly methods \u2013 without pesticides, chemical fertilisers, etc. Biodegradable waste is composted to enrich the soil.<\/p>\n
